Article Redesign
This project was another assignment where we had to redesign an article. I decided to redesign this article printed by 'Print' magazine.
The specifications for this assignment was the page had to be 8.5 x 11 (bleeds allowed) and the illustration had to be drawn by hand.
This article is mainly about the rrriot girls and how they pushed punk rock and the 1990 feminist punk movement. The idea was to surprise and make conservative viewers uncomfortable and angry. The wanted to rebel. the image I designed is of two figures that are neither known as male or as female, so it can be taken in any way.
The reason why my colour scheme seems so happy is because during this time artists would put a happy face on a serious issue that no one really talked about. For example, a piece that you might see is this cute girl sitting in a field of daisies, with bruises all over her face. This piece was to make the issue of child abuse aware.
I rotated the body type because I wanted to push the article to the full lengths and make the reader try to read it and understand what the article is saying. This type of placement would also be seen during this revolution.
